Friends for life start out here.
It's true that Prep students form bonds which frequently prove to be life-long, so our commonly expressed phrase "Prepies...friends for life" has deep meaning. It doesn't represent something which occurs by chance, because our manifesto of responsibility, caring, tolerance and respect is instilled in students from the outset.
The 'Buddy Scheme' is just one example of this. It connects the Prep Year children and Lower Primary pupils with a student "Buddy" from the older age groups in a way that is natural and mutually beneficial. The senior 'Buddy' interacts with the junior student in a number of ways, from helping to orientate the youngster in school geography and procedures, to shared activities such as reading.
The benefits are mutual. The junior is imbued with a sense of belonging and security, while being presented with a role model worthy of emulation. The senior student acquires the invaluable experience of mature responsibility and compassionate caring.
The Buddy Scheme can be seen as one more aspect of the totality of a Prep education.
